The desolation that transpires from the verses of this Afghan poet who asked me to kindly translate three of her poems into Italian, already translated into English by an Indian poet friend of hers, unfolds slowly here through the nostalgia for the beloved and the burqa that it seems to darken even the blue of the sky.
A feeling of painful physical detachment permeates the poems as the darkness envelops everything at the end, a symbol of repressed freedom and dreams imprisoned in a sad and oppressive reality. Only thought can fly high and touch spheres of light beyond human miseries, physical pain, and separation from one’s loved one.

La desolazione che trapela dai versi di questa poetessa afghana che mi ha chiesto la cortesia di tradurre in italiano tre sue poesie, già tradotte in inglese da una sua amica poetessa indiana, si snoda lentamente qui attraverso la nostalgia per l’amato ed il burqa che sembra oscurare anche l’azzurro del cielo.
Un sentimento di doloroso distacco fisico permea le poesie così come l’oscurità che tutto avvolge alla fine, simbolo di libertà repressa e di sogni imprigionati in una realtà triste e opprimente. Solo il pensiero può volare in alto e toccare sfere di luce al di là delle miserie umane, del dolore fisico e del distacco dal proprio amato.
